THE POTTY PROJECT is created to build public toilets in Tanza, Navotas, one of the poorest communities in Metro Manila.
morethanme is partnering with TAO-Philipinas
on this project.
TAO-Pilipinas is non-profit organization that provides technical assistance to urban and rural poor communities in the planning, development, and management of their settlements.
At present, there are about 140 families living on makeshift and semi-permanent shelters in the site. Most of those families dispose of their waste through "wrap and throw," i.e. wrapping it in plastic and burying or throwing it away somewhere else, creating a health and environmental hazard. Bathing is often done in public near the community water tank.
45% of the population are children.

Aside from giving them a proper place to pee and poo, children will benefit through improved
environmental sanitation (no plastic bags with human waste floating around while they're playing).
Children play a lot around the site, and even swim in the flooded areas. So it's really important to keep surroundings clean.
TAO-Pilipinas has designed a prototype toilet using alternative building materials to serve the needs of the community.
Through this project we can prevent spread of disease, promote proper hygiene and have a healthy living environment.
Your support can really make the difference in the lives of these children and their families.
You can donate now through morethanme or visit www.tao-pilipinas.org.
